Swapping a xbox360 dvd drive

I took out a broken dvd drive from a working xbox I have another xbox that had a working dvd drive but had other problems when I put it back together it won't read my games it saya play dvd what can I do to fix this? thanks to homesick for his Great! video on taking apart a xbox

hi mate for starters it doesnt work quite that simple , did you manage to get the key off the drive you are replacing ( i know you said its broke but depends what kind of broke as to whether you can get the key or not ) the key is the starting point , then you need to flash that key to the new drive , so the motherboard and drive key match

I did a bit more research on it and discovered that , the problem I'm having now is they are two different models , why did microsoft have to make things so diffcult

Thats the easy part mate just spoof the new drive to the same model as the 1 you are removing

the logic board stores has the key (the circuit board you saw when you took it apart) all parts can be changed out, but if you swapped logic boards, it will not work. if you switched out the laser, but not the logic board, it might not be able to read the game due to needing a POT CAL.
