Windows 7. Internal hard drive is filling up on its own

Hi
My Acer aspire 5940G hard drive is filling up to a dangerously low space. The laptop crashes quite often. I installed realtemp some years ago, and saw it was hitting 100°c, then shutting down. I stripped it down, and put fresh heatsink compound, and that cured it.
It needs doing again, at a later date.
I have run disc clean-up on it, it found one file over 20Gig in size, i deleted it, but after rebooting it did not show freed up disc space.
Any ideas why its filling up please.
Thanks in advance
.

Download and run Ccleaner from pirisoft.
It can find thousands of useless temp files and you can delete them all with one click.
It can scan the registry for errors and fix them all and it can locate duplicate files and delete those too.
I once had 25,000 versions of the same file for some reason

I think I have it already installed. Piriform I believe.
Thanks will give it a try, but doesn't address the underlying problem. Why is it filling up on its own. I dont have automatic system restore points. I,ll see what the cache is set at.
Cheers m8

It isn't filling up on its own.
Something is creating files that are filling up the HDD.
Scanning get the registry may remove the culprit
Lets see what ccleaner does.
Thanks

[SOLVED] Component-Based Servicing (cbs.log) causes all drive space to be consumed its a known bug probably

Does this remove " saved passwords "
no it just deletes temporary files and zero log files e.t.c that build up. its not like ccleaner whitch can delete files you do not want it to if you do not have it set up correctly.

Thanks for this (y) I was starting to get regular crashes on Windows 8.1 and this program deleted 30Gb of old crap!
Seems to be running fine now and no crashes

You are now using an unlicensed version on pc:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:
what are you referring to UnCleaner ? it is free you can search for it on the net, but not available from Josh Cell Softwares page any more his wep page is no more I originally got my version from MDL I knew Josh when he was developer there I am one of the mods.

Here is a small program that I use for cleaning out temp files e.c.t you can even set it up to do it auto. It was developed over on MDL foums.
Thanks a lot

Hi
I tried to rip a new CD on my Windows 7 acer aspire. It will not provide album information, track listing, artwork etc.
I've read the Windows no longer support this feature.
Is there a work around. Or, can someone recommend a good alternative to WMP.
Thanks in advance.
