'Invalid Service' warning when trying to record on H9S

Hi All,
I'm really hoping someone here can help me. I've got a Zgemma H9S which seems to have a mind of its own!

I have set it up to record on a 450 Gig HDD, and sometimes it works, but mostly it doesn't. Until a few days ago it would record any channel but rarely complete a recording; the timing is very random though. Sometimes it will record 12 minutes of a program, and then it will do something like 47 minutes of something else before stopping. And then occasionally it will record a complete 2 hour movie flawlessly before then only doing 3 minutes of whatever I try next. There is no pattern to it at all!

And then, a few days ago I flashed a new version of OpenATV, loaded a fresh Whooshbuild and restored my settings from a backup; and now its different agan.
Now, it will only record programs from my saved 'Favourites' channels. Attempting to record any other channel brings up the error message 'Could not record due to invalid service' followed by the server address of the channel. If I add any new channels to the Favourites, they wont work either; it only now works with the older saved channels from my list.
It if helps, the Serviceapp thingy is set to 'Original' and my selected player in the XE Downloader settings is 5001.

Can anybody suggest anything I can try to make this box work as it should?

TIA.

Is the usb or hdd setup as ext4 and assume its iptv service you want to record
Yes, I did the 'convert to EXT4' thing (no idea what it is, but I tried everything!), and yes its IPTV only.
Actually I just tried something completely random on one of the channels....
I opened the Favourites list via FTP to see whats in there. I noticed that the addresses of the working channels start with 1:0:1 and the channels that don't record start with 5001:0:1. So I deleted the first 3 digits (the 500), saved the change and ...... it records!!
I still don't know if it will record continuously or give up after 10 minutes though.

No idea on iptv but on sat could have many variants of a channel name and maybe only 1 work.
Does your favourites get updated with the new line up?
Hopefully others using it can give a better answer.

Also unsure how good the h9 is on iptv services which there many reported by users of this box.

No, the Favourites remain untouched when updates happen.
So the other issue is the random recording times; sometimes 2 or 3 minutes, and sometimes an hour or more before it just gives up and stops recording. Although, when this happens, the software still thinks the recording is in progress; the 'Rec' icon is flashing , but the HDD had stopped and nothing new is being added to the recorded program.

Recording IPTV on the h9s is going to be a bit haphazard ! I did manage it once but it becomes unreliable especially the 3 minute issue I think it is to do with buffering time, it's been a while for me now but did have some success changing the player with service app and flashing with Openvix with no build added .
Moved all mine to Shield and firestorm!

Ah, so this in an issue inherrent in the H9S then?
I wondered because I also have a very old Star H2, and it seems a lot more stable, but is very slow so I have pretty much retired it now. I'll try fiddling with the Serviceapp some more, but I haven't had much luck with it so far.
Although I'm a fast learner, I'm still a bit of a 'noob' with all of this, so I have no idea what Shield or Firestorm are.

Android box and Amazon firestick sorry I think predicted text

Android box and Amazon firestorm!
Alrighty then!! I have an Andriod box which is tethered to my Zgemma, so it gives me a multiroom capability with the Dream Player app. Could I use that to try this Firestorm thingy? If so, how do I get it?
Thanks :)

May be slightly different as I use Jedi Maker but to get IPTV to record I had to set the Stream Type for Live to DVB(1). You may do something similar in the XE settings

Firestick is a android Amazon usb device, you want recording so perhaps a different app like Jedi may work on Zgemma as stated in earlier post!

OK thanks. So just to clarify (because I'm a noob), Jedi replaces OpenATV? or Whooshbuild?
And how do I get it?

No Jedi is a plugin that can be found in all the above I think, go to plugins press green to install and should be in extenions install and reboot box then add your sub details!

finally managed to record from iptv.

make sure you add a plugin SERVICE APP and JEDII MAKER

Make sure you change STREAM TYPE FOR LIVE TO DVB(1)

STREAM TYPE VOD/SERIES TO DVB (1)

Change stream type to DVB 1 normally does the trick
