Is it possible?

Hi Everybody

Been a long time since I've been on the site, hope everyone is well and avoiding the Covid pandemic.

Since I was last here a couple of years ago I've been using locally supplied IPTV. The problem with this is it is not consistant with channel changes and the wife's US TV dramas having no sound just to mention a few.

To keep her happy with her dramas my son has been downloading the TV shows to pen drive and she has been watching them on a small TV in the bedroom but she would rather watch them on the big TV in the livingroom.

My question is - is it possible to watch these recordings on the pen drive using the USB port on the ZGemma box and if so how do I do it (in basic laymans terms)?

Thanking you for your hep with this matter.

Tom

If your PC is capable of using ext4 filesystem it is possible,
The other (simpler) method is browse to your box on your network and simply drag and drop the file into your usb that you have plugged into your box.

Which US dramas are you trying to watch?
There's quite a few available on E2iplayer plugin

Yes it is.

You need to install media player if its not already in your plugins list.

Menu-Plugins-Green Button-Extensions

Scroll through and install Media Player

Put your media files on your usb stick and pop it in the Zgemma

Then Menu-Plugins-Media Player navigate to your usb stick then the drama vid and press ok.

It will play.

Thank you Pupuqiop

There has been one small problem with IPTV and my broadband. I live rurally and the service here is over copper therefore my max speed is about 3 -4 Mb. When either of us are watching TV if the other person goes on their laptop the picture breaks up which causes some consternation.

My son doing what he does (with his 180Mb downloads) has eased the problem except I miss out on my F1.

Excellent Fez1, I will try that now and let you know how I get on.

Hi Fez1,

When I went to try this I ran into problems. I had previously used Wooshbuild on the Zgemma which decided to do all sorts of shanagans so much so that I ended up reinstalling it. I would have installed Willobuild only the clown that provided my IPTV decide to put a password on the IX interface and I cannot get past the login prompts.

But anyway, I have the box up and running albeit without the IPTV interface (but I not worried about that as my subscription was due to end soon) and also without the usual Sky EPG layout. I tried to access the pendrive through the Media Player but could not see it listed in the storage devices so I could go no further with that. I did see Dream Explorer and thought I should try that to see if the pendrive was visable. I was able to see it and on selecting the recording it plays perfectly.

Is there anyway to do like a factory reset on the Zgemma to try and rid myself of the password locked operating system?

Thanking you
Tom

If all your TV's are Internet ready you could link them to you router & Zgemma via Ethernet cables and use the mini DNLA facility on your Zgemma, then you can watch from all TV's. Your lad just has to upload movies etc to the USB on your Zgemma via Filezilla, takes a bit of setting up but it works well, hopefully there's some how to's on the site.

Much as I would like this facility, I am unfortunately unable to afford an Internet ready TV. State pensions don't go that far these days.

@Erodub , do not do factory reset just install willobuild via putty or openwebif.
I eventually did get a factory reset done using Wooshbuild but I was still unable to get Willobuild installed. I used Putty to logon to the Zgemma box and entered the wget command as per the instructions and got a few errors -

The Zgemma H.2S is not listed so which model do I pick? What diffference will it make seeing I had the file errors earlier in the install?

All those are 4k ARM processor boxes so I'd say none are suitable for your device.
You might be better off using a different image like openatv or similar

You are trying to use the code for supported receivers.
You need to use the code from here: Willobuild-Zgemma H3-H5

Code:
wget --no-check-certificate -O install_h3.sh http://www.willobuild.xyz/files/Scripts/install_h3.sh && bash install_h3.sh

or download the file and flash by usb:

USB flash files for Zgemma H2S/H2H

Thank you guys.

I knew that someone on here would keep me right and I do very much appreciate your help.

I got Willobuild on and it appears to be running okay.

Now my missus wants to know can I restore the IPTV that we had on this box. I have said that I think it is impossible but you know better.

What has your provider said?
Did he supply a plugin or did you add it a different way?

No Pablo he took the box away and returned it with the IPTV programmed into it. As soon as it started it loaded Wooshbuild and then the Xtreme TV screen.

You can add IPTV yourself quite easily.
Just install a plugin using the remote, open it and enter Host, port number, username and password, there's several plugins that work this way, Jedimaker xstream is about the best IMV as it integrates the IPTV bouquets with Freeview and Freesat or satellite so everything is in the same EPG

If it was via XtreamTV you will need to ask the provider for the command to install the plugin then give him the Mac address.

Thank you.

I got this IPTV service from a friend of a friend so I don't have any direct connection to him; never met him and never spoke to him. Everytime I need anything done with the IPTV I have to give the box to my friend who passes it on. I would receive it back in a day or two depending on how busy the other guy is at work.

It is just that the missus thinks there is about 3 to 4 weeks still left on the subscription so she it trying to get the F1 for the rest of the month. She really does not want to have any more dealing with him as his service has been a big disappointment. She thought if it was something simple that I could do on the Zgemma then we would have little to lose.
