Eurosat options

Newbie
Hello,

Thinking of moving my mini dish to point at a different sat, was thinking maybe 19.2E from the info I have been able to find so far on what channels are available with english audio track option.

Wondering whats available for sats other than 28.2 and what channels (particuarly with English audio option) are available on those?

Currently got an E2 box running openvix

If anyone has any information on services available will be much appreciated so that I can make a decision on what to do with the dish and price up any other equipment I might need.

Cheers

With a euro sat line and a dish that moves ie motorized there are loads of satellites for you to choose from. The only downside is the size of the dish. Sky Germany is open on 19.2 plus some others. I usually keep my dish on 0.8w (1m dish). It has good music channels and history hd and movies and porn if i want it. 0.8w can be picked up on a small dish but you will lose it with rain. 30w has a good choice of channels with English commentary. The only downside is finding a premier league with English commentary is the hard one. There are satellites every few degrees that bigger dish and a good box will pick up. Its just find a supplier that has cards for that satellite.

42e sport 1 & 2 English coms . You would need a bigger dish
16e English coms on some sports channels. You would need a bigger dish.
0.8w Nova Sport 1 & 2 English coms.

Only interested in sport personally so can not help with anything else your after.

I would say if you can keep the small dish on 28.2 for freesat or a line test with remainder of channels left.

Add a bigger dish and might use multi arm lnbs for different sats?

Do you want to record and if so may want extra feeds/cables

Nova sports dont open on sat for me on 0.8 thor, I know they work on the viarks, but is anyone else got them working on Eurosat C/S.?

Pre Viark I used a CS euro sat that had digi tv on 0.8w, though I never tested it. I never found it very stable though on 42e so I binned it off, I used Sky De without issue though 42e isn’t stable on any cs I’ve tried.

I open Nova Sports 1 & 2 on a euro line on all my e2 boxes the Focus Sat versions on 11842v 0.8w They also open on 23.5e Skylink versions with English comms nothing to do with the Viark although they do open on it.

I would agree with keeping the zone 1 satellite dish for 28.2E If you are confident about installation Fit a motorisied satellite system
1meter + satellite dish to recieve high s.n.r on
all the transponders across Europe Then if your
really adventurous fit Disqec switch to combined
the fixed system and motorised system

Mostly 19e and 0.8w for me these days, although I havent used my Eurosat in a while, Possibly look for a new decent line as my current one expires in a few days, too many channels no longer open on it any more.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking I might be restricted by the current bog standard minidish.

I would use it for recording and be nice to have some real time HD channels.

To be honest I enjoy tinkering with stuff so its partly just to see if I can get it setup :P

Would a large 1m dish be able to be setup to pick up more that one sat?

Was wondering whether something like the "Wave Frontier 90CM Toroidal Dish" (not sure if I am allowed to post links so I didn't) is a better alternative to a motorised dish to pick up multiple sats? Be interesting to hear everyones opinions.

Cheers

I was thinking of maybe just messing about with the dish already up to see what I can get working before laying out any money on new equipment. I like the idea of the wave frontier though

Tbh you can bodge a 19.2e LNB right next to your 28e with a few cable ties for the time being.
I’ve done that, it’s ok to do as a short term measure. But it’s hard to tweak it to get optimal signal.
I’m not picking up all channels on 19.2e, and a few pixelate during the rain. I “fine tuned” mine to DAZN, that has been holding up fine.

I'll give you a rough guide on what's available CS wise. I'll assume it's a 45cm zone 1 minidish you have.

19.2e: German and Spanish subscription packages. Vast number of German FTA channels. Excellent amount of English language content. Excellent signal quality.

23.5e: Dutch / Belgian and Czech / Slovak subscription packages. Good amount of English language content. Good signal quality.

13e: Polish subscription package. Vast number of Arabic FTA channels. Moderate amount of English language content. Good to very good signal quality.

39e: Bulgarian subscription package. Moderate amount of English language content. Good signal quality (LNB requires heavy skew).

30w: Portuguese subscription package. Good amount of English language content. Good to very good signal quality.

0.8w: Scandinavian and Eastern European subscription packages. Excellent amount of English language content. Very poor to good signal quality.

16e: Ex Yugoslavian and Eastern European / Czech / Slovak subscription packages. Moderate amount of English language content. Very poor signal quality.

42e: S-Sport Turkey - English commentary Premier League. No other English language content. Good signal quality (LNB requires heavy skew).

All above sats show live Premier League and Champions League football (except 42e) as well as foreign leagues and some show FA Cup, EFL and EFL Cup.

Movies, general entertainment, music and adult content on all sats except 42e.

19.2e and 0.8w are probably the best two satellites for English language content. However you'll need a bigger dish for the latter as many transponders will likely be missing with a minidish. Your best option with a minidish is 19.2e.

I'd start by moving your dish to 23.5e first though, as it's the nearest to 28.2e and you MAY get away with only having to move your dish sideways. Next, 19.2e at this point you'll definitely need to start tilting your dish back as well as moving it sideways.

0.8w is the highest in the sky.

39e and 42e and the only two above listed sats lower in the sky than 28.2e for which you'll need to tilt your dish downwards from the current setting for. As mentioned these two sats like plenty of LNB skew. You'll need to skew your LNB all the way to position #1 (you'll find a gauge on the neck). The other sats you can keep the LNB as it is.

You may have to take your dish off the wall and swivel the arm around 180° to position it at 30w, and possibly 0.8w, as zone 1 minidishes are only designed to cover half the arc at a time.

A 10mm spanner will do all the nuts on a minidish.

Get yourself a cheap sub £10 signal meter from eBay, unless you can see a TV whilst at the dish.

The Dishpointer site will show you where all the sats are in relation to your location. dishpointer.com
