Getting a new mag box (again)

I posted over a year ago to get opinions about whether to upgrade to a newer Mag box. The general response was that iptv providers are stopping supporting them due to security issues so I held off getting a new one but everything has continued to run smoothly. Are there any actual cases of end users getting grief about using a mag box or is this just a 'it could happen' thing?

Last time I said I wasn't bothered about 4k but we finally upgraded the tv so think I should now take the plunge. I've tried watching YouTube videos of, for example, the Shield which came highly recommended on here and the interface looks way worse than what you get with the Mag box. The reality is, the main user will be my other half and she hates anything fiddly. With the mag box, you switch the input on the remote and boom, list of channels. Job done. Not fancy but as easy to use as can be. From what I can see (and the videos don't necessarily show all), the other options drop you into a place which is trying to serve you Netflix, Kodi, whatever.... I have a Firestick setup with Kodi on another tv upstairs and she won't touch it as she hates the interface of the Firestick and the way you have to jump through menus instead of it taking you straight there. There's also zero maintenance with the mag box, it just works. Kodi requires some tlc every now and again to keep it running and, to be honest, I simply can't be bothered.

Given all that, unless I'm missing something, it feels like a Mag box would be the best bet again.

If I buy it and our stream gets cut off after a couple of months then so be it. Then we're forced into switching to one of the android options out there and the good lady will have to adapt. Or am I missing something else that would make it a bad decision?

If we do go for one, any thoughts on which would be the best option? The three linux models all have identical specs listed on the page here so not sure what the difference is: Choose your MAG

If you want the same display as on your mag and is also a 4k box better but the tvip 605 box as it works exactly like a mag box and it's Mac address is more secure as all tvip boxes start with 10:27 while all mag boxes formuler and others start with 00:1A and can be easily cloned

You could buy any Android device and use the STBEmu app which is exactly the same as the Mag box software. In the event your provider no longer support Mag boxes you can use the Android device with any provider.

What's fiddly about a firestick?
Change HDMI input on TV, click right twice, press select, and your IPTV is on the screen right in front of you.
If she finds that hard then you probably eat from a microwave.

EDIT: you don't need anything to do with KODI to use IPTV on a firestick

I agree I have 3 of em on telly's in bedrooms , think its more about looking at a home screen full of bloatware , thats the minus of using a firestick. But for what they cost , they are perfect for IPTV and the usual streaming apps on a secondary tv.

Why is that?
Cause they are shit and limited to what you can have on them and can do with them.
Personally I would go with a 4k firestick and ethanet adaptor and stb emu pro if your provider has his own hardcored stb emu pro and knows how to change the mac so it can’t be cloned then all good.
Another alternative is the formuler range and even the buzz range.
If you have a 4k tv depending on brand and model there is a couple of iptv apps you can have on the tv also so wouldn’t need a new device

Yeah I wouldn't get mag box. Unless it's android. As they are restrictive.
Informir top seller is their android version why someone would buy a mag android beats me. Amiko or formular cannot go far wrong if looking for a dedicated iptv device.

Ask your iptv provider if they've got any plans to stop issuing subs for mags, if they're continuing to supply them, and you like mags then get a new one.

But limited to what they can have on them for example if needed a vpnyou can't put one on so would have to buy a vpn router also can't have Netflix ect

The simpleness of the mag interface i get why people like it but when you can install the same app on any android to mirror image a dedicated mag is a no brainer . Its the amount of apps and if a genuine android box it will have the official google playstore.

Exactly my point why be limited when you can have better devices and better apps

I don't honestly understand this bloatware thing.
I have nothing really on my home screen except the apps I actually use. .
It's really not difficult, or very time consuming to turn all that stuff off.

It's that old saying if it's not broken don't fix it. But I guess it's the remote control experience also.
As mentioned just upgrade to a newer device or experiment with other recommendations.
