Newbie Questions

My SlyQ contract has finished and I'm considering getting an Octagon SF8008 with 2xDVB-S2X tuners. I have a couple of questions and wonder if anyone is able to help me? I've used Enigma2 a while back, I had an Amiko Alien back in the CS days so am ok with installing images etc.

If I swap the wideband lnb for a unicable lnb, will I only be able to record one channel while watching another if the channels are on different transponders?

This one is to stop the wife from complaining, the Sly box is behind the soundbar so it's out of sight, the remote works as it's Bluetooth, does the Octagon remote use IR or Bluetooth?

Thanks in advance.

The SF8008 won't work with a SkyQ lnb so you will need to swap it. There is no advantage to having a unicable LNB unless you want feeds to multiple boxes or have a box with FBC tuners.
FBC would effectively give you 8 tuners.
The remote is IR.

Thanks for answering, I'm thinking unicable so I can have a feed in another room to replace the sky multiroom box.

Before you go any further you may need to consider that there's hardly anything clears on satellite now unless you have motorised system.
On normal UK sat 28.2 it's mostly just Freesat, no sports or movies or any premium channels have worked for the past 6 years

Cheers man, I'm thinking Freesat for the basic channels and iptv for the premium channels

That's the spirit, didn't want you to spend money on sat equipment thinking it was like it was back in the day, those days are gone now. IPTV is more than enough for most people with box sets and VOD and multiple backups of main sports channels and movies etc.
Multiroom lines are available if you want IPTV in extra rooms, cheaper than single lines EG, 2, 3 or even 4 connections allowed on one login/sub/account
