According to the latest official PlayStation Blog , the PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld will be updated to firmware version 5.50 soon.

The most notable update will be the addition of an Information Board to the XMB interface. As owners of the PS3 might know, the IB displays current news, weather and other updates for Sony products in a scrolling ticker.

Additionally, says the blog, the update will add:

* Memory Stick improvements – You’ll be able to create and access sub-folders on your Memory Stick PRO Duo for music, videos and photos. Separately, the available space required to download a file from PlayStation Store to your Memory Stick has been reduced significantly.

* Internet search for games directly from the XMB – You’ll be able to easily search the Internet for information about your PSP games. Select the icon for the game, hit the Triangle button, and then select [Internet Search] from the options menu to get search results based on the game title. This feature was added to PS3 with the recent 2.70 update.

* Trend Micro trial – PSP’s Internet browser is a great tool for checking out your favorite Web sites on the go, and we’re teaming up with the Internet security experts at Trend Micro to make the Web browsing experience safer and more secure. With the 5.50 update, you’ll have the option to access a free trial of two Trend Micro services:
Trend Micro Web Security uses Web reputation technology to block PSP owners from accidentally visiting a Web site that may contain malicious content designed to steal personal information and confidential data.
Trend Micro Kids’ Safety uses URL filtering technology to prevent children from accessing Web sites that feature inappropriate content.

It's not available yet, but will be coming soon.

I believe so, it must be the latest one out, even if its not, it wont be too far off. Dont worry, your not being a pain, we're all here to help one another. Just visit the page i've given you, and download the file. Upon extracting, you will come across a folder called "UPDATE". Just copy that onto your PSP's memory card, make sure it goes into the correct directory (see my previous post). Then just run the update on your PSP, under the game category. I didn't provide enough detail at the beginning because i assumed that you may be familiar with the process as your already on custom firmware. Hope that helps.

I've never heard of "chick-hen" before. Also i've never executed a network updated, i've always downloaded the official eboot and the customised m33 eboot so they can work together without the use of the internet. In that case what you could do is, put the M33 eboot into the update folder, and then run the file, it will ask you that it needs to use WIFI in order to download the main Sony eboot. Before you even attempt the internet update, just make sure your WIFI connection settings on the PSP are correct.

You seem to have a good grasp of what is required to apply custom themes to your PSP. I suggest you try this:

1. Copy the CXMB folder to your memory stick. Use the lite version.
2. Put your theme(s) in ms0:/PSP/THEME.
ms0 = root of memorystick.
3. Go to ms0:/seplugins/vsh.txt and add a line that shows the path to the plugin. In this case, ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx
If the TXT file isn't in seplugins folder, just create a new text file and call it VSH.
4. Save the file and hold R trigger to get to recovery mode. Go to Plugins and enable CXMB.

CXMB 3.3 can be downloaded from:

I did come across this:

"I can't access PlayStation Store on my PSP.

* Ensure that you have the latest System Software, your WLAN switch is on and you have access to a Wireless network.

I'm having problems signing in to PlayStation Store.

* If you have forgotten your PlayStation Network Account password, you can request a new one.
* You must have a valid PlayStation Network Account in order to use PlayStation Store."

I haven't installed any themes on my PSP, so i cant say from much experience what went wrong, did you enable CXMB towards the end?, if that doesnt work, then i'll find another guide that may do the trick.
