put it all back in again which is annoying cause then i lose all my recording :(

Does your supplier provide multiroom???
Turn off your box that works and see if the other box comes on

No you won't. Once your HDD has been initialised, you can remove it and plug it back in after you reflash. Like was said, restart your cam. Menu > Infopanel > Softcam Panel. Cam 1 should say either CCcam or mgcam and it's either yellow or green to restart. If it says no cam press left/right until it appears.
