How many lines for a quad tuner box

I'm considering a xtrend ET8500 quad tuner box running cable tuners. If I had all for tuners in use at one go would I still only need one line like I do with my zgemma h2s (record one watch another)

Is all the ecm stuff handled by the box?

It would depend on your server. I would recommend 2 lines both with multi room (ask your supplier) if it doesn't suggest or mention multi room you don't want to spread 1 line across 4 logins it would reduce service quality massively

4 cable tuners will need 4 Connections.
Most Providers offer 2 or 3 Connections per line.
Some only offer 1 Connection so it's important to ask your provider
I would recommend using Oscam for multi tuner receivers.

Thanks I'm going to stick it in a media cupboard and use a fire stick or box (I have plenty I don't know why) running kodi 17 in some rooms . That link back via the enigma 2 pvr client kodi 17 has made quite simple even my other half could use it.

So two lines with multi room, are these boxes any good?

They do what you need them to do.
Personally I sold mine very quickly as I didn't like it. This was back when they first come out and had driver issues.
Not sure how they perform now, so don't let me put you off buying one ;-)
Maybe ask others how there getting on with them.

Might not be fire sticks more like fire TVs my new house has been wired with cat 6 everywhere. So I thought stick a quad tuner box in my media cupboard and use kodi to stream down my lan

I use a quad xtrend et 8500 and its the best box i have owned by a mile,if using as sat then one line will do the job no worries,Cable then check with provider

I always thought it was one box one line for sky/cable
As the box has one IP address

As the decoding is in your box and it only needs the code to be brought in the every few seconds.
It doesn't send for the code twice as much if your watching twice as much

But I'm no pro and that's my under standing

If you're watching 4 different channels on 4 different boxes it needs 4 different codewords to clear the channels regardless of the ip.

Both wrong.
It depends how many Connections your provider offers.
For example a large cache server will offer 3 Connections
Old school servers might only offer 1 Connection
Some offer two Connections
So it's a minimum of two lines and a maximum of 4 to clear all tuners (you can have more than 4 lines of wanted to)

Always best to ask your provider
1. How many Connections
2. For use only in one receiver or more than one receiver.

I run two lines in my box anyway (vu duo(so i dont get any glitching)), funnily enough its the cheap £5.99 line my box uses the most according to oscam logs so i would have had more than one. I just wondered how many in theory how many i needed, the ET8500 is on offer at the moment elsewhere and can have a quad tuner for £249 if i would ever use 4 tuners at once i dont know, but if a kodi box locks up one tuner maybe i would.

Some more goodies arrived by post this morning my 8 way hdmi 4k hdmi splitter so i'm going to be able to split the main hdmi feed all over the house as well

I have run many different sat lines on my box off many different providers and one line works just fine for a 4 sat quad tuner,as its just one box,The multiroom is for more than one box and believe me i have been using enigma boxes for many years
