its not the updates they are stopping you from side loading apks m8

Do you know anyone with another 4k stick that has been able to install the apps. If so check the firmware versions on the 2 sticks to see if there is a difference

looks like tough luck for now .
Not many come across yet but they will as more sticks are sold

Depends we're and when stick was bought the 2 I have here were from amazon yesterday I one from ardos loaded straight up.

I have set 2 customers up on 4k sticks tonight one using downloader and one using apps to fire with no issues.
One of them only received the stick this morning and plugged in for the first about an hour ago

I know someone who is having same problem as you like I said try resetting it may take it back to original settings

@Adz786 had his before this come into place as I helped him load stb emu onto his firestick mate don't know where he got it from but think it's started doing it now
