Best lnb for sky

Hi guys

What’s the best quad lnb for sky? Will a better one improve my signal quality and strength? My signal gets a bit ropey in bad weather.

Thanks

I asked recently on if anyone had noticed real world usage improvements from switching LNBs and it basically confirmed that for better signal you need a bigger dish first and foremost, LNBs are much of a muchness assuming the dish and LNB are set-up correctly.

In normal to reasonable heavy rain your sky dish should be ok. During thunderstorms you expect the signal to go. Under these circumstances I have moved my 1m motorised dish around and the signal is fine. So bigger is better. Under normal conditions what is your signal strength like. Under settings there is an option to view signal strength are the bars nearly all the way along?

Better moving the dish
If your picking up sky. If your in the UK you should get signal no problems with a line of sight
Maybe the dish is out of line with Strom's can move them

My signal quality and strength can fluctuate even if the weather isn’t to bad. I do live in a windy part of the world (Scottish islands). I’ve got a 64cm triax dish and a quad lnb. Maybe I need a bigger dish. I’ll need to check the alignment again. I thought maybe some LNBs were better than other.

Possible or your l.n.b is breaking down
Water egress l.n.b fault can cause 0 s.n.r
Or big reduction in s.n.r

Checked my lnb, I’m getting corrosion on the connector threads on the lnb. I’m going to replace it. Any recommendations for what lnb I should get? Any way to make them waterproof?

If it is a zone 2 satellite dish unless you want to replace the l.n.b adaptor that holds the l.n.b
in place to one that suits a 40mm l.n.b like
inverto You would replace like for like I'm not
Supporter off sky l.n.bs they are cheap To seal your connections you can use self Alignment tape to produce sealed connection

I use self amalgamating tape on the connections themselves but the threads on the lnb start to corrode, I live by the sea. Would silicone grease be suitable or would it affect the signal?

Silicone grease will protect the copper within the f connectors from corrosion You could
Look at f connector covers and l.n.b rain cover
