100 jobs for Galway medical devices firm

100 jobs are to be created by a top US medical devices firm with the expansion of its plant in Galway.

Merit Medical is investing €6.7m as the company enters the surgical pre-pack business in Europe, establishing Galway as its European centre.

Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Innovation Batt O'Keeffe described Merit Medical's investment as significant for Ireland's life science sector.

The company was set up in Galway in 1994 and currently employs 250 people producing disposable medical devices used in hospitals worldwide.

1,700 people are employed in its facilities in the US, Jordan, the Netherlands, and Galway.
 
Its great to hear news of job creations,its seems lately,looking back on the TKs news thread that alot of jobs are being announced and do we need them considering we are at an all time high in 20 years of people signing on the live register.
