3D TV's

OK not sure where to put this as i cant see a new technology tab.
But we are thinking of getting a 3d TV
Looking particularly at the Panasonic VT range. There are 3 Panasonic's the VT GT and ST, VT being the top dog.

The VT30 Neo Plasma Premium design &3D experiance is apparently the best on the market, then there is the GT30 True Cinema experiance and then the ST30 Home entertainment experiance.

We are looking at the P50VT30B/P55VT30B which in some places comes with 2 pair of free glasses @ £130 ( aprox) these are rechargeable glasses.

Some of the cheaper 3D tv's dont need these and you can use 3d Cinema glasses. But the Panasonic tv has Intelligent Frame Creation Pro technology.
We have a Panasonic Bluray player - which we would need to upgrade to a 3dBluray player.

But just wondering what peoples thoughts are on these 3d Tv's - Does anyone have one or can anyone recommend any other brand.

We have been to the Cinema and seen a few 3d films now and as we know this is the way forward so thought when the films come out on dvd do we really want to buy dvd's or 3d Bluray disks

So any pros cons for Panaosnic or any other 3D Tv please share

All depends on your price range linny id say.
Personally i wouldnt go plasma but for LCD or (better again) LED. Of course up goes the price.
I dont know much about different models that are out there at the moment but throw in your price range and a particular size and im sure people could shop around with you :) Some stores will offer you money off a trade in also.

That particular model is come in around £1800 and we are after 50/55 inch screen. Must admit ive not seen any panasonic LED's and dont know the difference really between LCD/Plasma or LED. So we are looking at probably spending around the £2000 mark for tv and HDMI cable suitable for 3DTV Plus ontop a £D Blu Ray player which are around £350 i would imagine.
But its our Xmas/anniv gift from us to us :) - you feel you need a good excuse to spend that sort of money.

Ive got a 32 inch sony tv ( its massive) but only around 7-8 yrs old cost us £1200 in the sale at the time - bet they wouldnt give me much for it! - its actually a larger unit than our 42" tv!

Any reason you wouldnt go for Plasma Axxxo??

Just seen an add at the bottom of the page for comet and its now £1784.90

Picture quality, plasma is a bit dull for me, better viewing angle with LCD and LED, look at a few demo models set up around the shops floor and youll be amazed with the difference. LED tv's are great energy savers too.

LED is the way forward I'd say. The picture seems clearer i think and they are slimmer and lighter.
Whether you can get a Panasonic LED 3D for the size and price your looking at though is another matter lol

panasonic only do 3d tv in plasma not LED plus their LED tvs only go upto 42" so anything above that has to be plasma

I have the samsung 55" C8000 3D led tv and the picture is awesome plus the tv looks like a work of art
Samsung LED 8000 - 55" 8000 SMART 3D LED TV - LED TV - Television | SAMSUNG

Panasonic 3d glasses are rubbish lots of ghosting very dark and look like swimming goggles and reviews say uncomfortable to wear.
I read lots of reviews on all these 3d tv's before parting with my £2500 also cheepest place for tv's try here
SAMSUNG UE55D8000 LED TV 3D 55 Full HD 1080p 4xHDMI Freeview HD [UE55D8000] - £1,899.00 : Total Digital - The Home of Audio Visual Entertainment

Thats a 500 quid saving on same tv from currys.. what a bunch of rip off jokers :whacko:

good luck with what you buy.

Yes go down and try at local currys supastore there usually on display to try out, but dont buy from them complete rip off

I've heard a lot of praise for the Panasonic VT30?
yes so have we which is why we was looking at that 1st.Out of the 3 that panasonic do the VT is the Dogs! been told its the best on the market as far as 3D goes but will take a look at the samsung to see what the difference is.

did just that williamlfc mine seems to be the older one its a samsung le46c750 3d /picture is very good/ and as you say 5 years warranty all for £800 ! one question (cant seem to find place for this! and prob: been asked b4) is the hdmi cable needed for transmitting 3d signal GOT to be 1.4v or would a bog standard cable do? or am i being conned into buying costlier ones?

You Don't Need HDMI 1.4 Cables For 3D TV - The Consumerist
or
Monster Cable®'s Monster Advanced HDMI and the new HDMI 1.4 Specification
bit confusing but looking ahead to whay may come?

a lot of other things get overlooked when you buy your high cost tv,old coaxial cables only had them for40 years lol, cheap scart cables,no power screening for dirty power surges, cheap hdmi cables as they all degrade viewing quality,my suggestion would be as follows if you have plenty of stuff connected.
home green powercentre that has 8 plugs and 4 go dead when tv is powered off so no dvd or amp left in standby, also pc and others. powered ones are vcr,sat boxes and hdd drives, they also
cater for cable in/out x2 and sat in/out x1 and telephone and will have lightning protection built in.
cheap scarts are not great no protection or shielding and can pick up interference use good quality for better viewing, not popular as most are on hdmi.
i like to buy monster products for all my stuff, agreed it is very expensive and if i bothered looking might have got it much cheaper, but it has a lifetime warranty do others? last hdmi cable i bought was around euro200 for my bluray player.
a friend of mine got an extension built with cables built into wall for tv used cheap crap and ended up with a crappy picture,i had a 12 foot monster component cable wired it in to outer sockets and tv excellent picture quality appeared there is a difference.

Ive been told by a large high street store ( do silly adverts) that you do need the 1.4 cable ................................. at a cost of £130 ( approx), oh and same store also told me that the panny does NOT comes with free glasses but every other place it states comes with 2 pair of goggles again at approx £130 per pair. I need 5 pairs aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggg 5 x £130 = Lotsadosh.com!!!!!!! ontop of the tv, cable 3d bluray player to play the 3d movies on ........................... one mega expensive xmas/anniv/birthday gift :)

Will be going over to Costco in a few weeks so will take a looksie :)

Would they take them back? Think before we buy any cables we will see how the hdmi cables we already have work
