5g router on EE sim capping

So, I’ve been using a 5g router for about 6 months now as have had no access to fibre broadband. I experience some buffering on iptv in the evenings. Often though it’s fine. I’m guessing this could be a capping issue? They have now installed fibre cables on my rd. I’m wondering if I get fibre, will all the buffering go away. What do we think?
 
What happens if you have a poor service? 5g home broadband though simply is not as good a fibre service. I've tested it and my son is now using it the same way and its just not as reliable.
 
You’re right I know. I’ll just have to fork out another tenner a month. Thanks for the confirmation.
 
What speeds you getting on the sim router, i have been looking at it for a while unlimited sim on lebara or lyca are so cheap although lyca has a fair usage 450gb but its on the ee network which is the best 5g i understand
 
My download speed is 79.8mbps

Speed is pretty good to be honest, it’s just reliability that bothers me. At peak times I suspect it’s giving me problems. I should just live with it really as it’s not that often.
By your own router and unlimited sim for £22 pm cheapest and only option for me at the time. I can’t complain.
 
I’ve been using the 3 5G for just over a year now and generally it’s been pretty solid and don’t seem to get capped. Mine though tends to run around 600-800 download and 130-160 upload.

Unfortunately for me fibre is still a few months off and standard is 35mb.

That download seems very slow. Have you checked signal strength and different positions. Mine is in the loft as in the window downstairs it was so much slower
 
This was Saturdays speed and it’s slightly slower through my Deco than directly on the 3 router.

Good speeds , when we get full 5g inside as standard your typical isp will be cheap as chips to compete
 
That’s interesting. I really really thought about the position of the router affecting the speed. Rookie error maybe. I can feel some experimentation looming.
To be honest it’s probably in the worst position it could be.

Are you running devices via WiFi or hard wired.
 
Ok so I’ve tried the router in different places in the house. Although I found better places, I could never achieve more than about 110 download speed. Nowhere near what you say you’re getting. EE the best and pretty much only option for me.

Although you might think you are in a 5g area you might only be getting 4g+ speeds. I know through experience that many providers especially o2 will say the mast is 5g but you only get at max 110mb. On a true 5g 3 mast stood underneath of it i once maxed out at over 1gb.
 
Hmm. Maybe I’ll go for the broadband then. May wait till march now though. I’m sure I’ll get it cheaper than getting it now, just for the price to increase in march. What a con this is. A contract should be a contract. Anyway that’s a whole other argument.
