Ability to stream from satellite box when not on home WiFi?

Is it possible to stream from my satellite box when out and about? I can stream in the house on phone/ipad/TV/2nd sat box from main box as long as connected to my home network.

Would I need a VPN connection to my home network or is this not workable?

I have a Vu+ Solo 2 and Zgemma H9S satellite boxes.

It can be done, not easily tho, and, you will need either a static IP or one of the other workarounds in order to know your current home IP address.

you would need to setup port forwarding on your router, so access to your isp ip address on specific port is then forwarded to your box. its advisable that if you do that you also add a second user to your box and in the openwebif configuration, enable http authentication and disable remote access for user root. you would then use the new users credentials to log in and stream

Hadn't thought of a second user, interesting. Thanks Grog.
it's just added security, if you google openwebif you will find some results (page 2) with IP addresses, click on these and you're in someone else box. enabling http authentication with a user other than root should reduce chance of anyone else accessing your box

Yeah, you've got to be careful opening up ports on your router. Some members used to, just for fun, hack people's boxes who had done that and put "Hello From Techkings" messages on their screen. "Your port is wide open to hackers." :X3:
