android satellite boxes

My zgemma recently broke and I'm currently using my old openbox v8s and was looking around on ebay and amazon and noticed some android satellite boxes for sale.

Does anyone know if any of them are any good and could recommend one to me, I saw a few that looked like they are single tuner ones and mostly come from places like china, do they do stuff like enigma2 and newcamd etc?

All my sat boxes are android. Got three Amiko A3's in the bedrooms and two Amiko A3 combos downstairs. There are upsides and downsides depending on how you look at it.
The A3's are single tuner and have no autobouquets , so that means you have to either do a rescan every now and then or download and import an enigma 2 channel list. I personally don't mind as a scan doesn't take too long. They do have crossepg though and adding a line into oscam on them is a piece of piss. The pros outweigh the cons. I can run Kodi flawlessly, mobdro, full web browser, google play store etc so you can install all the usual, gmail, twitter, facebook whatever,

The A3 combo does all of the above But as well as a satellite tuner it comes with a cable tuner too. So you can add a sat line, a cable line and basically use it like a twin tuner box. Watch a sky channel and record another channel on cable or vice versa.

I went for the amiko a3 in the end, cant for the life of me figure out where I put my file newcamd.list on oscam lol, anyone got any idea :)

You dont use the actual newcamd.list file mate. you enter the text.
go into oscam on the box, scroll to config, click green to add, enter the details from your newcamd.list file ( server, username, password etc) then press red to save and restart.

ok I figured it out eventually, the channels are clearing my next issue is they are glitchy like I'd say every 10 seconds or so the sound will cut out for a second then the screen pauses briefly then starts again, I know its not the line as I have no issues with the line on other boxes in my house, works fine on the openbox with no glitching on mgcamd, mgcamd 1.35a on the zgemma that I used to have the line worked fine on that, so can only assume its something to do with this oscam I'm using on the amiko a3, anyone got any idea on how to stop the glitching? Mgcamd protocol or newcamd protocol seem to be the most stable out of all the choices of protocol I can choose.

newcamd as protocol mate. also, make sure you're using the right oscam ( version0.06.001) oscam service version 1.25 and the compile time should be sept 24 2014

lol theres so many on the internet all all over the place, whats the best website to get the download of oscam from, I've looked at source forge and xbmc wizard sites but not sure as so many downloads

check yours first, open oscam on the box, hit the double right arrow a couple of times to get to the about tab. see if it's the version i mentioned.
if not, i'll upload mine

everything is working now, thanks for the help getting it going, whats the best channel list for 28.2e, I tried a couple one was on xbmc wizard site and the other channel list was a lamedb one called cats eye 28.2 list, the cats eye one seems alot better than the other one which was just a bunch of catergories with channels all over the place in them and channels in no particular order, I'm used to engima2 and openbox channel lists where everything like bbc1 bb2 hd and so on are in the order, do you know of any like that, if not I'll stick to the cats eye list as thats the nearest I'll ever get.

You can't set them up as a ''sky numbered'' list but you can set them up so they're listed A-Z. That's how i keep mine, i actually prefer it that way. Hit the home key, scroll to the TV tab, hit F1 then select A-Z.
It's very rare i need to scroll through channels anyway i just use the voice recognition. Hold the mic key on the side of the remote, wait for it to appear on screen then just say whatever channel it is you're looking for.

oh well never mind, setting them to a-z isnt too bad actually, and speaking to the remotes voice control works quite well too, last question honest, Whats the best firmware for this box, I've tried several and not really noticed any difference apart from them adding things like cross epg and the odd app here and there. I do notice that if you scroll loads of channels really fast the channel list goes all crazy and keeps scrolling even after you have let go of the remote and sometimes if you change channel the oscam dont like it and you have to wait a bit for channel to load, but otherwise everthing is fairly good now.
