you will not be able to get on demand as from my limited knowledge they are a closed source box.
 
sky+hd providers box as its setup using remote,when you want a program its ordered through the remote.=interactive box
other boxes are not interactive=no talk back.

i got sky+hd in the house doit need put to the net or out ?
 
older boxes could work through sat dish as this is a pay as you go service,newer boxes can have net connected to avail of more services like movie library etc another paying service.

Any open source enigma 2 box will give u a "version" of freeview on demand, but just their version as a plugin. Not great though. But all ive tried it on is ibox 2 plus. Its a bit like a simplified pc txt version. Not great Imho
