Apple’s New iMac: Detailed Look at the Available Specifications
Earlier today we briefly mentioned Apple’s new iMac’s which are now available via the Apple Store, there are four different base models available, however you can also customize exactly what you want.
The cheapest base model is the 21.5 inch 3.06GHz iMac, this consists of an 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, 8x double-layer SuperDrive and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics, this model will supports a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 and will set you back $1,199.00.
The next model up is exactly the same as the above model, however it has a 1TB hard drive instead and has ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256MB, the total for this model is $1,499.00, to me an extra $300 for double the storage and better graphics is a little excessive.
The next base model is the 27 inch 3.06GHz iMac, this consists of an 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive, 8x double-layer SuperDrive and ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256MB, this model will supports a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440 and will set you back $1,699.00.
The highest-end base model is the 27 inch Quad Core 2.66GHz iMac, this consists of a 2.66GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive, 8x double-layer SuperDrive and ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics with 512MB, this model will supports a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440 and will set you back $1,999.00.
There are multiple configuration options available too, these allow you to upgrade to a faster processor, choose more RAM, choose faster RAM, add more storage, choose specific keyboards and mice, add the Apple Remote, choose iWork ’09, have Final Cut Express 4 preinstalled, have Aperture 2 preinstalled, have Logic Express 9 preinstalled, have FileMaker preinstalled, choose whether or not to have Microsoft Office Mac 2008 Home and Student Edition, add a MobileMe Membership, add a One to One Membership, buy a printer and finally buy an AppleCare Protection Plan subscription.
Due to the amount of configuration options it is pretty easy to total up an iMac which will set you back a whopping $5,670.85.
Have you decided to buy a new iMac? What version did you choose? And what configuration options did you add?
