Prompted by this thread I have bought a Ledger nano s :)i currently have some crypto in coinbase which probably isn't the safest way to store for various reasons
so, i have set up an EDGE wallet.
does anyone have any thoughts on keeping my balance in that or would it be better off somewhere else? (hardware wallet) ?

Personally a Ledger or Trezor are your best options. Just don't be stupid and save your passkey online, always use a piece of paper.

Use a HW wallet (I use Trezor) just make sure you buy it direct from the company website not from eBay or probably not even from Amazon, as they can be tampered with.
