Blade WiFi dongle problem

Has anyone had any connection issues with the Blade WiFi dongle. When switched on the box says USB device detected. Then when I try to change the Network Connection to 'Wireless', it says 'no device' and I cannot get any further. I have tried a Digitaz dongle and the box recognized it immediately and connected. You would expect a Blade dongle to work, or am I missing something?
 
I have a confession to make! I was plugging in a USB flash drive instead of the WiFi dongle! My only excuse is that they look exactly the same. Now feeling very stupid!
 
Having installed several BM 5000 receivers with wireless connections, there does seem to be issues with Blade WiFi dongles. I have found that the signal is down to 70-80% even when the router is in the same room. Most of my customers have had problems with the wireless signal dropping out and the receiver has had to be rebooted. When the dongle has been replaced with a Digitazz, the signal has been 90-100% and no rebooting required.
Any one have any comments and I wonder if Blade are aware that their dongles are of a lower quality?
