bt 4k - audio keeps cutting out

i've got BT 4k channel on just now, and it works, sort of.
image is fine, but the audio keeps cutting, and the only way to get it back is to go to another channel then go back, but then it only lasts for like a minute (repeat and rinse)
it's a h9 combo box - are these boxes just not up to the job for 4K?

also, i'm left rather underweldmed with the image quality, again, maybe it's the box that's the problem.

I have an H9T and it does exactly the same. the picture also skips slightly when the audio cuts out

Picture quality is excellent though.

yep, i see the same image skip too.
the image quality is "ok", but i play a lot of 4k content from my plex server, so maybe not giving it a fair trial.

Turning off AC3 downmix via yellow button also brings the audio back but it doesn't last unfortunately.

I see that it is broadcast in AC3+. Wonder if that is the issue?

i have AC3 and DTS downmix set to both off (i'm connected to a soundbar).
i'll turn AC3 downmix to on and see if that makes a difference.

From what I've read it seems to be either the hardware or drivers having an issue with the AC3+ audio
