Changing the password on the AT&T home network

My brother recently had AT&T installed at his home, all three services. The installer told him he couldn't go in and change his network password. This can't possibly be true! Can some who may have the AT&T home setup please give me a hand? I did try the basic router ip but nother pops up. Any suggestions?

If it's a wired installation then check out "AT&T Provided Modem, Gateway, or Router" and if it's WiFi based "Wi-Fi Network/Wireless Network".

I'm not from the U.S so don't quite know how AT&T set up their home networks.
