Hi, so my mate got a used kryptview box off someone he knows but when it's up and running it just says scrambled/no video and the box won't update via the internet and there's nothing wrong with the internet connection. So I'm wondering if it needs to be updated through the PC, like if it was a brand new box?

Check what software is on the box, Menu - System Info - Date, if not Jan 2015 it needs updated, these links from sticky should help.,

KV boxes are tied to the KV server, the box doesn't need a line, it's closed source.

They where the dogs back in the day but now the service is a bit hit and miss compared to a paid
server (open source box).
