Clutch pedal problems

chips

Newbie
So the clutch pedal when pressed down seems to be hit and miss going all free.
Believe the clutch master cylinder is loose on the clutch rod and needs tightening on.
Will it be easy to force it back in place then bang a grub nut on the end to keep it in place?

Could be just a retaining pin that’s come loose, should be able to jar it back and re pin if that’s what’s happened. What car/engine is it?

Can’t tell from the picture quality it kinda looks buckled but maybe the camera

Cylinder rods on some cars are easy enough to push back down and others require a fair bit of force.
Did one a while ago and had to open 5he bleed screw to the slave cylinder to depressurise it and fitted a new circlip that had diappeared.

Hmm Gearbox selector cables on the ib5 gearbox on fiesta and focus usually lose their circlips aswell or the plastic snap on at the end of the cable wears out and of course Mr ford dont sell the end piece ya have to buy a whole new set of selector cables 🙈🙈🙈🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sorted it, undid the 2 x 10mm bolts that hold the clutch master cylinder in place to give some free-play.
Easy then to push it further down the rod and fit a grub screw on at the end to stop this happening again.
It's a fiddly job with limited access between the pedals and being flexible and supple helps, which I'm not!
