Dual boot win7 and win10

Hi,
Can anybody give me a definitive answer please?
I have win7 on my pc. I’m going to get a new hdd and install win10 on it,
then dual boot, as I’ve got v old software where the manufacturers disappeared, so I
still need win7 to run it.
QUESTION. Some web pages / forums say that if I upgrade using the win7 software key, win7
wont work after 30 days, whilst others don’t mention this. Has anybody done this,
socan give me an answer?

if you use your old win7 licence to activate win10 ie the free upgrade path, then no,windows 7 will not continue to work.you would have to purchase a win10 licence.are you sure this software wont work on win10?ive not found anything myself that wont.you could always try compatibility mode as well.if that works you can ditch win7 completely.hell im still running ms office 2000 on my win10 machine.lol.
Make older desktop apps run again on Windows 10

I keep my old stuffs running on windows 7 by having a dual boot with Linux mint.
I've been using this method for the past 5 years or so and have no problem.

Thanks for your reply.
My situation is that I can use my win7 programs without internet, and
my grandkids want windows with the internet to play their online games,
which is why I’m going the win10 path. I will probably go the Linux route
as well later.
