Dublin chairman Gerry Harrington has rubbished suggestions that Meath supporters were responsible for an attack on the senior footballers' team bus in Navan on Monday night.

The team were returning from Cavan where they had played a challenge match earlier in the day when an object was thrown from the roadside at their Bus Eireann coach in the Co. Meath town. But according to Harrington, it was simply a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"It may be no holds barred when Dublin and Meath meet on the field of play, but there is nothing to suggest that the rivalry between the two counties had anything to do with what happened," he said.

The incident resulted in an external pane of glass being shattered alongside the side of the vehicle although an internal sheet was undamaged and the coach completed its journey.

No-one on board was injured and the matter was reported to gardaí./COLOR]

I know Mr. Harrington has to put a certain spin on this but we all know the bus was targeted because it was carrying the Dublin team ,imagine the uproar if it was the Meath team bus or any other countys' bus attacked in dublin i really cant wait to stuff the hoors in the championship now

Got this from this evenings Herald.

"Following Monday afternoons defeat to Cavan, Pat Gilroys Dublin Footballers made a long sorry journey back to HQ and moods were further darkened when a window on their bus was shattered by youths in Navan.
The Royal rapscallions got more than they bargained for when it is believed a number of players gave chase quicker than an Irish Redsetter and caught up with the stone throwers.
Rumour has it that the players held on to the petrified trouble makers until the real boys in blue arrived. One of them allegedly confessed that he was from Finglas and didnt even know the Dubs were on board!"
