I don't know about VIX but on my OpenATV there's a plugin called DVD Player. Does anyone know what it does, since these boxes obviously don't have built in DVD players?

As far as i can remember its possible to buy a usb dvd rom / cdrom /cdrw /bdrom etc etc drive that use a generic set of drivers ala plug and prey (plug and play) so i am sure someone somewhere has one of said devices and a plugin was created for that reason, maybe to backup a dvd collection to hdd for viewing on the gemma with the file/movie player
I have no idea if anyone still makes/sells them but a quick bogle about on your local tat bazar or even google should turn up some options. (years ago i had a 24x cdrw drive in an external 5 1/4 usb drive housing)
