I think you might need to update 6.3 is the last stable version. Or maybe make life easier for your self and put grogbuild on 20min job done

the playing back of recording issue has been mentioned a few times on here, for me tv recordings work fine but anything I dowload via e2iplayer to watch later has the same issue you describe.
