Hi All,
l hope this fix will get you all up and running on Home Streaming if you havnt sorted it yet.
This has been tested on
Windows Xp sp2 & sp3 multiple computers and various routers
Windows Vista multiple computers and various routers.
100% working results 👍
Set up Home streaming on the set top box
Menu>Accessory>Network>Network Ip Setup.
If you know how to manually set it up, do a manual type. If you do not not set it to auto. Then exit
Now go back in there.
Ok in the blank 2nd dns field, last option, enter
192.168.000.400 (
exit and save.
Assuming you have the homestream software set up on your pc ensure you have set the correct ip address on the starview and the correct location of your files in the pc software.
Next go to control panel on your server pc
click on network connections>local area connection>general>properties.
Scroll down to Internet protocol (tcp/ip) Highlight and click properties
Go to the last field and enter
Alternate dns server
type 192.168.000.400
Click ok then ok again.
Now start homestream server program on pc. Ignore first error message click ok
Go to Movies and click refresh and ensure you can see your files.
(for now put some mp3 mp4 or small file avi files in your folder)
minimize
Hit the sort/fn button on your starview and you now should instead of seeing a blank screen see your files.middlefingerdancemiddlefingerdance
Your antivirus software may also kick in here on the pc so if the screen is still blank on starview check pc screen for a warning or prompt I use AVG antivirus and had to set the connection to Always allow
Playback: the file compression plays a big factor on what works and what does not Mp3 work perfect and most mp4's I have tried work fine, Avi files are hit and miss again this is how they are created so post your results when you find a method that works.
Issue with starview software : after playing a movie file you need to exit then re-enter the streaming again or the box will sometimes give crazy results which hopefully will be sorted in the next software revision/patch
More stuff to come........
