With the release of the tablet friendly Windows 8, it is no surprise that we would see a bunch of Windows 8 powered tablets at this year’s CES. Taiwan based, Gigabyte, better known for its PC hardware and notebooks, unveiled a pair of 11.6 inch tablets with specs aiming to set itself apart from the fierce competition.

Unveiled by Gigabyte were two almost identical tablets, one which is based around business (S1082) and one which is more consumer orientated (S1185). Both tablets boast some impressive specs, packing the new 13-watt Core i5 dual-core “Ivy Bridge” processors, 2GB of DDR3 memory and a 500GB HDD which can be swapped for a faster SSD. Most impressive is the 1080p IPS display which is in both devices which allows for crisp, full HD video playback – a rare feature on many tablets currently on the market. In addition, the S1082 features 3.5G HSDPA support for browsing on the go and an Ethernet connection.

Both tablets come with the standard fare of features including HDMI and VGA, keyboard dock with track pad for mouse navigation and two cameras, front and back.

No pricing is currently available but if it remains competitive, it could full well take the laptop and tablet market by storm.
