Help format a Hard Disk Drive via Team viewer?

Newbie
Hi

Could anyone help me format an external hard disk drive via Team Viewer? I need to remove and compress the stuff on the device over to my PC then format it so I can use it to record on my Zgemma H2s
I'm worried that I will have to much stuff on my PC and slow it down

Please PM me for team viewer details

Thanks and happy new year

If it is pictures, videos or music you want to move then compressing won't save any space as they are already compressed.

Probably better to invest in a new 250 - 500GB drive .. they are not that expensive and it will save the time of transferring.

There is one main file with word docs and Excel spreadsheets in, it has lots of data in it then a load of old photos from old phones ect.
How can I tell if my PC has the spare space to store all the data?
HELP!!

Click "Computer" on Start button ... If you are running Windows7 it will tell you how much available space you have .. Any OS after Win7 I know nowt about but if you locate the hard drive in "Computer" it will either display available space or you could right click the drive and go to "Properties"
I would still go with a new drive .. 250GB at Amazon 25 Quid

Read here about compression - Should You Use Windows’ Full-Drive Compression to Save Space?

I'm running windows 8, but im worried about moving the stuff from the portable hard drive to my PC, can anyone check this for me please?

it looks like I have 90gb of stuff to move and only 30gb free on my PC but I dont really have anything on the PC?

Can anyone help?

Everything I knew I didnt need I have deleted, I can see how I am using so much memory, I have a portable HDD, thats what I want to clear to use on my ZGemma box and I could do without spending more money this month!

32gb usb £15 in asda for the zgemma.
Till you get on your feet
If you delete recordings as you watch them it will do.

Agreed, best to buy a decent branded usb stick from a good source (not fleabay) then you don't have to delete anything which later you regret ;-)

If you have 90 Gig of stuff to move and only 30Gig of space to move it to then you are going to have to delete stuff .. NO AMOUNT OF COMPRESSION will save you that amount of space ..
Again my suggestion is ..... Unplug the drive you have with your stuff on and keep it in a drawer then buy a new drive for recording ... you don't need to go large if you want to keep costs down, 32 Gigs will suffice if you delete after watching and you can get them for about a tenner if not less ..

The wife records loads so I need to go large, I can't understand why my PC is using up so much memory, I dont have anything on it!

Going to delete some files, watch out for the 'how do I reinstall ....' thread!

if you just format the hdd in your box it will delete all files and make it readable by the box.
Then make sure epg, timeshift etc is saved to hdd your ready to go.
