STOCKHOLM - Swedish striker Henrik Larsson has announced he will end his playing career after Helsingborg's first division match against Elfsborg on November 1.

The 38-year-old, who enjoyed club success with Feyenoord, Celtic, Barcelona and had a short stint at Manchester United on loan, made his 106th and last appearance for Sweden in a 1-0 loss to Denmark on October 10 in a World Cup qualifier.

"I know now that I am 100 percent sure about my decision to stop," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

"I am 38 now and that's enough.

"I will think over what I will do next. Most of all I need some time to adjust to life after football."

Larsson won a Champions League medal with Barcelona in 2006 and was part of the Swedish team that finished third at the 1994 World Cup in the United States.

Larsson also won the Golden Boot in 2001 as Europe's top club scorer.
