Hi guys, help needed for A780 kryptview

I'm new to all this stuff and haven't a clue what I'm doing. I've bought a KV A780 and am unable to get the channels.
I know I've to download a software update, but am unsure of how to do it, and how to get it from my computer to my receiver.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Got PC with XP and serial port. Don't have the null modem cable yet.
I take it the cable goes from the PC to the receiver to upgrade the software then?
 
Follow cactikid link or use the stickies at the top of this forum page for guides.

You will need the null modem cable to connect kryptview to your pc.

Load the firmware dated 24/04/11 in the downloads section on this site.

Make sure you load the A780 version as the A750 firmware has the same date.

A new update has just come out you can do that from the installation menu ( s/w update )from your remote control
but you will have to flash it with the april firmware first.

If you get stuck post back giving as much info about your problem, you will find plenty
of help here 👍
 
Okay folks, downloaded the loader as a rar, it extracted fine.
Downloaded the firmware (kryptview_A780_24042011.bin) but the loader says "The downloading is not requested" when trying to open the firmware.
Any ideas?
 
Make sure you have the correct com port selected in the loader
software. Also try switching the box on from the back at the same
time you hit the loader button to download. Try a little 3,2,1 countdown.

Are you using Xp and a straight connection between box
and computer using a null modem cable ?
 
Press start to upload to box and then switch power ON not before,this is the reason you are receiving "The downloading is not requested" message.
 
Thanks folks. I got the firmware to download. Yeah, using XP and it's a straight connection between the box and PC with a null modem cable.
I can't seem get many channels though. When I do an automatic search, the tp list eventually goes to 58 or 59 (all of them state "Already exists") then the channel search finds 68 channels named things like "DL_SA4200_K_10064".

I have tried to do a software update but the loading bar never moves, no matter how long I leave it.
It's a Virgin Media line so I have set the network to Telewest and the Channel Search Type to network.
 
Finally got everything up and running, so far so good. Took a fair bit of trial and error though.

One question: is it possible to do something with the old eurovox boxes? Can they be modified or flashed to operate like the Kryptviews?

nope only fit for a door stop bud.

you dont upload to box as that was usually used to load a modified channel list/dump file, you download a firmware to box so it is important to know what button to press.
