Newbie
I'm in the market to purchase and install some CCTV around my property (too much thieving happening)
I have a budget of about a monkey (£ 500) and I want a DVR, 4 wired cameras in HD with motion sensors.
I have reviewed a few like Swann, Hikvision and netgear Arlo, However all have mixed reviews.

Has anyone got some knowledge of pro's and cons of CCTV and is it easy to fit etc.?

Regards,

Worzel

I've read some of the reviews on Saance stuff and people have had problems with it, but mostly with support of the product (non existent)

That's another shout for the Saance stuff then.

Going to have a look now and see if can order some.

a quick tip,
if you buy a box without an HDD the HDD from an old sly+ box will be a cheap alternative, thats what i use,

Floureon 2000tvl with 1gb hard drive for around £200 great kit and easy to install

floureon , saance etc are mostly pretty much all the same rebranded kit,
most any of them will do the same, dont buy a kit, get your cameras seperately,

Ah, couldn't seem to see a Sannce NVR sold separately, as I really only need 2 x bullet cameras and a dome camera.

I have a Hikvision Dvr and swear by it, best I have had and wouldn't have any other now.

I'm soon going to be having a new CCTV kit installed, Hikvision 1080P Turbo HD. Order has been placed. Just waiting for a installation booking date.

Just to put my 2 pences worth in, hikvision is the best for budget, do not be fooled by all this 1600tvl 2000tvl crap, fixed lense means fixed lense, all the cheaper budget stuff is not full 1080p its not worth buying, i install domestic cctv for a living and wdr varifocal cameras are the best way forward for the money, try www.satsecure.co.uk for better quality at a good price for a diy install, alternatively try asking a professional and not skimp on it in the first place, last thing you want is to buy it install and realise you could if had alot better for not much more money, speak to the professionals even if you dont use but compare. Seriously!!

Im a fully qualified city and guilds domestic electrician and cctv installer this is what i specialise in, I cover the whole of the North west too and happy to give free quotes and advice, steer away from the pre made diy cable, its terrible the picture quality is compromised, varifocal wide angle do give you better value for money too as does starvis technology

I've bought a couple of systems off www.cctv42.co.uk Not cheap but very good quality. Even if you don't buy from them, loads of advice videos on their website and why to avoid fixed focal length cameras! Not connected to this firm, just a happy customer.
