Inheritance whilst on benefits 10k

just been asked at work by a friend about an inheritance and how it affects benefits.
His sister has just been left 10k by her stepdad who recently passed away.
Her situation is that she had to give up work 2 years ago due to severe osteo arthritis in her arms and legs and is now claiming benefits.
She currently claims income based employment support allowance and she also claims personal independance payment at daily rate for care but no disability rate as of yet.
As anyone come across this scenario and know how her benefits will be affected etc.
She has no other income or savings etc.

Get it in cash, buy a fireproof safe and put it in your loft. Why should you be penalised for a gift that was taxed originally

How do savings and lump sum pay-outs affect benefits?
have a look here pal
what that is saying they will take £4000 into account
Hmm seems you was spot on @pieeater2015 i spoke to mate yesterday and she went to citizens advice and the first 6k is ok and cannot be taken into consideration but the extra 4k slightly affects her entitlement to employment support allowance etc and even the advisor suggested if it could be paid into someone elses account thats not claiming benefits etc.
