Try logging out of app on firestick and relogin, clear app cache, or make sure playback is set to default with the app. What app are you using?

Not a big issue for me though I use Satellite for Football and IPTV for big boxing fights

Well id not be buying a device with 7.1 on now.

It is normal to get devices from say China the aliexpress type stuff with old Android version on them. Id certainly not be going as low as 7.1 on a new purchase though.
