IPTV remains tuned on standby?

I've got my box (running Wooshbuild 5) setup with IPTV integrated into the bouquets and it's mostly working great... my only concern is that when I put the box into standby while tuned to an IPTV channel that it all appears to goes off but I can tell that it is still tuned to the stream. I can tell this because I can see via my router that the box is using a constant 2-3Mb/sec even when off. If I tune to a satellite channel before going into standby the usage goes to zero.

I'm guessing switching to deep-standby or full off will fix it but I use WebIf to set recordings etc and I like a fast bootup time.

Is this a fault/bug or known issue? I know it's not a showstopper as I have unlimited bandwidth but I'd rather not have my box constantly consuming bandwidth all through the day/night when not being watched. Is there any way to make it automatically stop IPTV streams on standby? Or even as a last resort somehow make it auto tune to a sat channel when I press the power button?

IPTV resellers might also be interested in this issue as I suppose it's going to be affecting their capacity quite a lot...

I have a h.2s. When I am not watching iptv, I simply switch the channel over to one of the remaining old CS channels i.e. a F.T.A. channel. Atleast then I am not using and wasting unnecessary bandwidth.

Sounds like that's the common solution, seems odd why it would stay streaming even in standby though. I'll have to try and teach the family a new power off technique unless I find a way to automate it!

I always thought standby would stop streaming. I don't have a multi room sub but I am able to use it on two boxes just not simultaneously and provided one box is on standby the other works fine, which I'd have thought suggested streaming is disabled in standby mode.

Likely hood is when the second box is on the server kills the stream to the other box, most iptv servers do that.

Yes they probably will. I can use dreamplayer to view channels on my boxes even when there in standby.

So another way to test is take note of the channel it's on put it in standby turn you're other box fully off then try to view the channels with dreamplayer.

Edit just tried mine but dreamplayer won't show my iptv bouquets just sat and cable bouquets

So perhaps it does stop streaming? Hopefully this is indeed the case as I've my boxes set to go into standby at midnight.

I'm at work now so can't test the dreamplayer method ATM. But I do know the admins in my supplier group keep going on about not used on two boxes at once or you will get banned.

It definitely does stop. I was worried as I have a usage limit from my isp. Was able to check If line was offline while on standby and it sure was. Hope this helps.

Something wrong with my box specifically then? I've just tested it again, this time with a VOD on IPTV (which usually restart from the beginning when you switch away and back to the channel). Left it in standby for 5 minutes, turned it on and 5 minutes had passed in the movie. Saw on my router statistics during that time constant 3Mb being used by the ZGemma's IP.

Worth mentioning that my IPTV channels are tied into my bouquets so I'm not using a plugin or anything.

Are you guys also testing with just standby and not deep standby? e.g. the box comes back on almost instantly when hitting the power button.

I ended up writing an enigma plugin that triggers on standby and automatically stops streaming if it detects I'm watching an IPTV channel. Works great, and the stream automatically resumes once I come out of standby.

That sounds excellent

I thought mine was doing the same, as logging into the box and using 'ifconfig' showed some packets being sent/received in standby. Though my router showed little traffic.
But, as soon as the box was turned on from standby, and streaming, my router showed a large increase in internet traffic.
So I believe the IPTV traffic does not continue when in standby.

I ran a Speedtest while watching a 1080 stream then did another after putting box into standby and the second test was about 5 Mbps faster. This would suggest to me that the boxes do indeed stop streaming in standby mode. Not scientific I know but seems conclusive enough.
