Right I know this is probably been lazy but here goes.

I am setting up some 20 h.2s boxes for xmas gifts for friends and family and need to quickly do this when I have time as busy at work.

Is there a way to save downloading crossepg on every box so say I set one up copy data from box and stick and add to next one.

Yes I know it doesn't take long and I can leave tell them to do it themselves but I will be doing day before Christmas eve and want to get this done in as quick as time possible and don't want to be having to tell them on Christmas day do this and do that.

Thanks guys

Please only reply with a solution for this as surely if when crossepg downloads it puts the files somewhere lol

I think your best bet is to do a "Complete backup" (red,right,2 down) , minus your line, to a USB drive and then restore this to your new boxes, assuming they will all be in the same reception area.

Do this after you have all your settings on the donor box the way you want them.

Crosspeg saves its files wherever you tell it to, defaulting to internal mem, which is not good, but also needs to be updated regularly, generally daily.

It won't copy the epg data. You need to have your storage device connected and it's saved in the epg.dat file when the system shutdown.

True, but surely if Hullstorage sets the donar box to update Crosspeg daily or on boot, then this is what will happen the recipient boxes as well.

Even if it's saved on every box it will be out of date by Christmas day.

Go to menu, setup, cross epg, configure and change force epg on boot to yes. Then when they turn in their boxes it'll load new epg data

Yep, fully agree, thats why I suggested setting the donar box to do just that.

Do one box including running CrossEPG as normal.

The copy the CrossEPG folder and epg.dat file from the USB device using FTP, computer network or dream explorer.

Then on the other boxes you just need to copy both of these across to the new box USBs.

This has not been tested and it will be just as quick to run CrossEPG on each box I would think.

Sparkrite I think your missing something force epg load on boot only reloads the data epg.dat in the storage device so he will need the data already on device.

Wooshman yes that would probably work but the storage device needs to be ext3 or 4 file system so it still needs to be initialised by the time you've done that it would be easier to scan rather than initialise then ftp.

The other option is to save epg to internal storage but if epg was corrupted you'll run the risk of bricking the box so I wouldn't do it.

I think on a whole and by numerous posts, do it like normal you lazy bugger lol - It will probably be quicker in the long run.

Yeap, would be easier just typing out a few instructions and leave them with every receiver, get out the house quick before the questions start lol

lollol
doesn't matter as they call my me all the time anyway even though they have all the answers on notes right in front of them! really cheese's me off that when they call you at daft o'clock "how do I record something?" (READ YOUR BLOODY INSTRUCTIONS LIKE I TOLD YOU TO, IT'S THERE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :damn::taz:

20?! Big family and lucky friends lol.

Copying your donor box settings file from etc/enigma2 across may help too but as said flashing a complete backup probably safer and easier, with instructions left how to run EPG....

P.S. Bet you're wishing you just got them socks now lol

Are they all going to be supplied with hdd/sd cards because I can see a bigger nightmare than epg arising otherwise.

It won't record, it won't pause or rewind, I'm getting ext3 etxt4 errors, I've added an hdd still doesn't work.

Good luck with it
