What image are you using? I haven't got an h9 box but this is for vix

Guide how to move image to Micro SD card and
boot from Micro SD card for larger Flash Size.

This is particularly useful in the Zgemma H9 series (H9S, H9T, H9.2S & H9.2H) due to the 256MB flash, moving image from NAND flash to Micro SD card will allow the installation of both Kodi and QT Stalker and many other plugins and give you a much larger flash size.
8GB Class 10 Micro SD card recommended.

This guide is written for OpenViX, SD card booting was implemented in OpenViX release build 5.2.029, all credits go to Twol from OpenViX Team adding this feature.

For the purpose of this guide we have used a 8GB Class 10 Micro SD Card and Zgemma H9 series receiver newly flashed with OpenViX 5.2.029, basic setup with no extra plugins.

  1. Power off the device and insert your Micro SD card.
  2. Power on the device.
  3. Once booted initialise the Micro SD card. Menu > Setup > Storage > Initialize Devices > Select your Micro SD card > Press OK > Press Green to initialise.
  4. Once complete exit all screens and reboot your receiver. Once re-booted, press Blue button > ViX > you’ll now see H9SDcard Manager.
  5. Once re-booted, press Blue button > ViX > you’ll now see H9SDcard Manager.
  6. Select H9SDcard Manager and press OK.
  7. You will now see the screen below, press Green button to prepare your SD card, this will copy the root image files to your SD card. Be patient will take a few minutes. Once complete the terminal information output window will close and go back to the screen below. Now Press Red button to reboot. IT IS IMPORTANT TO DO THIS REBOOT SO THAT THE NEWLY PREPARED MICRO SD CARD IS RECOGNISED FOR BOOTING PURPOSES.
  8. Once rebooted go to Menu > Standby and Restart > H9SDroot.
  9. Select H9SDroot and press OK, you’ll now see the screen below.
  10. Press Yellow button to Swap boot to Micro SD card, your receiver will now reboot and boot into Micro SD card image. If you need to boot back to NAND flash from SD card, as above but press Green to Swap boot to NAND flash.
  11. Once booted go to Menu > Information > Memory, you will now see the large size flash and free flash size. We have installed both KODI and QT Stalker plugins and have 6.4GB free with a 8GB Class 10 Micro SD card. You’ll now be able to enjoy more free flash.

Finally a few small notes. We’d recommend that once you’ve booted to SD card to only use the SD boot image. Online updates work as they should, but can get out of sync if trying to keep both nand image and SD card image updated, certain files are shared from NAND to SD, therefore we’d recommend only to use SD card image boot once booted to SD card. Note that it is currently not possible to Couch flash or USB flash an image direct to Micro SD Card. You can back up settings and plugins that can be restored to a SD boot image if ever needed to restore a backup.

I'm not sure about ATV

I flashed my h9s to openvix as the method Dsayers has shown is easy and does not need any added app to do it!! The method for expanding flash with openatv requires ftp of flash converter!! There are tuitions on Google it!! For both methods but I found the openvix one to works best

OpenATV guide by atv Captain

expand rootfs to 8GB
The H9 have only 256 MB Flash its time for a cheap rework.

Your need a 8 GB micro SD Card

i have test class4 class 10 and class A1 all working

but Important not all SDCARD works my 16GB have all issue

how to check the SDCARD was ok for expand your H9 Box

insert the micro SDCARD and reboot the box
the SDCARD must insert before your boot the box !!!!!

now check the /var/logs/message file

cat /var/log/messages | grep mmcblk0:
Apr 6 19:28:13 zgemmah9t user.info kernel: mmcblk0: mmc0:59b4 USDU1 7.31 GiB
Apr 6 19:28:13 zgemmah9t user.info kernel: mmcblk0: p1

when you see the info fine you can start when not buy a new 8 GB micro SDCARD

download the H9 sdcard mover

extract the zip file and copy the files to your box /tmp

change executable bit from the bash script : chmod +x /tmp/h9_mmc.sh

***** attention all data on your SDCARD lost when your start the script! *****

start the script and reboot the box and have fun with more space on rootfs

PS: rollback to rootfs to NAND

flash a new images
or

install the nand bootargs

dd if=/tmp/bootargs-nand.bin of=/dev/mtdblock1

Could be spinning as doing something in the background mate
Not sure if there is a more appropriate section to post my problem so forgive me if this is wrong.
I have an H9s2 and a Hs2 both on infinity and on multiroom. The Hs2 records Freeview, IPTV, and VOD no problem.
The H9s2 records Freeview, IPTV, but VOD will not record just freezes and needs restarting.
Any ideas please .

The H92s is using a 320gb HDD, Records everything but VOD. The H2s is using a 32gb usb and records Freeview, IPTV, an VOD.

Hi
Just used Mount Manager , Swap File is set to 256 , and Initialise. Same for the usb ( swap file is set smaller ).
Do you think it could be because the h92s is using an HDD ?
