I got a letter years ago to do it,i just ignored it and nothing happened

Unless it's a registered letter you can claim that you never received it.
Much the same with postal fines etc. It's probably not worth the expense and hassle of trying to track people down.

Never been asked to do Jury service, but I did do 3 months on tag and a six month stretch for assault so perhaps that's why

If you falsely claim to have to self isolate, bear in mind that track and trace might check you're at home and not out working.

Imo self employed people should be exempt from jury service.

Why can't you just leave the 'phone at home?

I have also been called up for Jury Duty, and start next week! I agree that Self Employed should be exempt especially after what they have all been through the past 18 months or so, and are now again starting to build back up their businesses. But I really don't think that fabricating an excuse not to attend is worth the hassle and potential outcomes if found out.

I told them no ,so I had a knock on the door asking me I had to do it or I would be arrested.
So I said OK arrest me and I shut the door that was 20years ago ,still waiting

They mainly pick working people because you are less likely to be suffering from any long term health or mental health conditions etc.
I was asked to do jury service a few years ago but i got my gp to write to them and explain i have Aspergers syndrome etc and i never heard anything back from them thank god.
But i totally understand the postion self employed people are in with loss of earnings etc it stinks.

I will just tell them all my mates are now criminals and as long as they are not nounces, I will not find them guilty. There are means and ways to get out of anything I also think the old bill would have something to say to the judge if they selected me LOL

I spent 2 weeks doing absolutely nothing. I've never been so bored!
I got sworn in on one case and it got adjourned.

Ohh I hope I get on a case, I can't be doing with just sitting around doing nothing for 2 weeks

Update, done me Dury duty.
Wasent has bad as expected.
Was paid £350 each week, even though I never had to attend for the second week.
Would I do it again. (maybe)...... Paul
