Kodi on firestick problems

I tried downloading kodi on my Amazon Firestick last night via ES and it wouldn't do it for some reason, the little rotating circle popped up in the top right hand corner for a split second and nothing happened, anyone know why this could be? I've done it before on other sticks with no issues at all.

The workaround I use for Firesticks is to download the apk file on PC then upload it to my Dropbox. Then connect to my Dropbox on Firestick and install it from there. HTH.

Nice one I'll try that way out then. Is there a quick way to get a kodi short cut on the homepage of the firestick?

Never had a problem with es file explorere , just keep hitting the button on remote and it will eventually put the kodi download on it

I downloaded it straight from Google play as well straight off kodi main Web page and it's downloaded it straight with the kodi main icon in my apps. Is there a difference in this way and the apk way?

Easiest way for me is Google firestopper.apk, download, then get apps to fire on any phone/tablet, available from playstore, then push firestopper.apk to fire stick/box, its easy to keep kodi or spmc on the latest version that way and you get the choice, all you have to do to push is search the stick or boxes ip address and click on firestopper.apk, upload and its done. Go into installed applications find firestopper, run, updates then install either kodi or spmc, choice is yours, with check for updated versions tab as well.
