Looking for advice what to buy.

Hi Folks,

I'm a newbie to the site and a newbie to the whole linux sat reciever world.

I have done a bit of reading and am looking to buy something cheap and cheerful to start with.

Maybe a skybox f5s / openbox v5s I believe are the same? or maybe a dreambox.

I am a techie so have now worries in setup or firmwares etc.

I will also need some advice on clines as from reading buying "gifts" from ebay is a very bad idea.

The skybox and openbox are clones of each other and are not Linux boxes.
The dreambox is a linux box, I personally know nothing about it. I see it advertised at about £169, for that money I'd go for the Octagon box for £129.
When you get your box, and have it set up, you can go to the thread especially for requesting "gifts" and sort yourself out with a few test lines.
 
Welcome mate.If you go for a skybox you shouldn,t have to put on firmware.Just channel list and Line.Very easy 5min job via usb;) Put a post in (anyone recommend a server) section and you will be pm,ed regarding line (y)
