mag 254 locks up ?

my mag keeps freezing on the category page and wont move up or down when i use arrow buttons , so i have to unplug from mains and plug back in . why would this be ? thanks

Sounds like my wife now she is 50

Freezing within the portal suggests it might be a dodgy server or internet connection related. The entire interface of a stalker/xc portal is just a web page and if it loses connection, a reboot is needed to reconnect quite a lot. I.E. If I connected to my (old) service using my phone (was a dual MAC and m3u line), I would have to restart the mag when I wanted to use it again because it would be booted out.
