Roberto Mancini is planning a huge clear out of stars at Manchester City this summer according to reports in Wednesday's papers.

The Italian is set to off load Emmanuel Adebayor, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Wayne Bridge and Stephen Ireland in order to fund a £50m move for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.

The Eastlands boss believes massive surgery is required on the City squad if they are to challenge for the Premier League title next season and will demand full control over transfers as he bids to end the club's trophy drought.

Manchester City have already declared their intent. Where City lead others will follow in the £60million chase to sign Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.

City boss Roberto Mancini has even suggested that he will break the bank to recruit the Spain star.

But here’s food for thought.

In January the Mole pointed out that while Torres is a brilliant player, his injury record was deteriorating by the season. In his first season at Anfield, Torres turned out in 74 per cent of games. Last season that had dipped to 69 per cent of games. With this season over as he recuperates from a knee operation, it’s now 57 per cent.

Keeping him on the pitch appears the greatest challenge!

lol were that skint we have to buy a player from charlton, no Kaka for us. heard him called a lazy player with a low tollerance of pain by the spanish press. :whistling:

it might be an idea to get a few good acadamy players, then give them some experience. then build a team for the future. but are you going to keep benitez as manager?
