New 360 Drive-not moddable?

Been told by a friend of mine today that the current 2009 xbox 360 drives are differnet to the available benq, liteon so on drives and are currently not flashable, also a dashboard update or general 360 update coming in about 2 weeks time carries a massive ban hammer for people, any info on this? (homie) lol

as far as the new drives, that WAS true, but not anymore, they are just finishing up the codeing of the FW for those, and as far as a mass banwave, no one ever knows for sure, but people alyways go into mass hysteria mode when a final rev. dash update is released. it never fails. i just bite the bullet and ride the wave. :)
