New Skybox F5 - Should I upgrade firmware?

Hi,
I have ordered a Skybox F5 which should arrive tomorrow. I have been looking at all the information and tutorials and have a couple of questions.

1. Should I upgrade the firmware to the latest (in downloads) or try with the pre-installed firmware first?

2. To get up and running quickly I want to install a channel list. Can I just install the channel list without scanning or do I need to scan satellite (Astra 28.2) first and then load channel list?

1/ why fix it if it aint broke?
2/ just put on a channel list no scanning required
3/ if you have no gift you will only get free to air channels

I don't have a sea lion but I have an 'n lion'. I see in BoxT's tutorial that there is MGCamd option shown in menu. Would I be able to use my n lion with MGCamd, or Newcamd only?
