Not connecting CPU on Sharp Monitor

Hello, Have recently bought new Dell Inspiron 560 CPU with Windows 7 and trying to connect my Sharp Aquos Montor with TV with this but is not connecting can any one help how to connect. Infact same monitor is working fine when I connect my Toshiba Laptop having Windows Vista. Please help

Are you connecting with VGA or HD cable or have you tried both?

Reason i ask that is that the channel is probably different for each one.
VGA cable is probably on a channel named PC and the HD cable could be on another.

Go to the control panel, display and then screen resolution.
In the option for multiple monitors change the settings there from 1 to 2 to see if the screen appears on your tv.

once i enter the setting for screen resolution, there are no options for multiple monitor changes

Are you sure you have all the correct drivers and are up to date?
Go to the dell website and enter your service tag and find all the correct drivers. You might be missing the vga drivers for your computer.
Is there another monitor you could try it out on?
Other options I could think of is check the resolution your vista laptop is using when connecting to the monitor and match those on the windows 7 pc.
