Ok to leave box and hard drive on?

Had a search through the site and couldn't see anything, I have been turning off the box by pressing the red power button at nights. Sometimes this affects my line meaning I have to restart it. Do you guys leave the box on at all times? Same goes with the hard drive, I have a mains HDD and wondered if it's best just to leave it on at all times?
 
Yes you should leave your box on and in standby at night, because that's when your EPG updates come down (if it's been set up properly). How is it affecting your line exactly?
 
Ok so pressing red button is fine as that puts box on standby? When I turned the box on, I wasn't getting the non FTA channels until I went and restarted them through campanel
