Nowadays with hd need big hdd lolYeh, should work mate. You must be planning a lot of recording. Mine is usb3 and works fine as woody6222 says usb's are backwards compatible. Not sure about the 2Tb tho.
can't you fit an internal HDD, a much neater solution.
